Event Safety and Navigation
It is each entrant’s responsibility to safely navigate the course you’re undertaking The 10K and Half Marathon are marked out with arrows we’ve placed. if there isn’t an obvious arrow then follow the public footpath.. For the Marathon and Ultra use a combination of the GPX file loaded onto your GPS device or the map provided (this is also recommended for all races just in case someones tampered with any of the sign we put out. There will occasionally be signage that we’ve put in place if there’s an area that’s a more dangerous road crossing or the route isn’t particularly clear.
A location tracker will be provided for the 100K and 50K Ultra routes so that we know you haven’t gone far off course. If you do encounter a major problem please call us using the emergency number we provide you on race day. There will be Tempo Staff around the area and never far away.
Please be respectful of any other footpath users or land owners. Please use common sense when crossing any road. Close any gate behind you and do not drop any litter.
For races of a longer nature, fatigue can be a factor so once you can sense you’re getting tired please concentrate on where you’re running.
Bone conduction sports headphones are the only headphones that are approved for use in all road races under the UK Athletics Rules of Competition. The Rules are clear that “in ear” headphones cannot be used in events where roads are open to traffic. Using bone conduction technology and open-ear design, Bone conduction headphones are able to deliver stereophonic sound through your cheekbones to your inner ear. Potentially preventing accidents caused by traditional headphones and earbuds that block out sounds, runners can enjoy their music and still hear everything around them – including traffic, emergency vehicles and other warning noises. This event is on a mix of trails and open roads so only Bone conductions sports headphones are allowed. We ask you to please respect these safety rules otherwise you may be omitted from the race results.
