Tempo Summer 5K Series

09 July 2026

Event Announcement

The Tempo Summer Midweek Series has changed to………. The Tempo Summer 5K Series

Three races, one each month from May to July, all to be held on a Thursday evening this year. But the biggest change – all 3 distances are 5K and each race will be from a different location.

If you complete all 3 races you will receive a beautiful Series Race T-Shirt

You can do all 3 races or just pick and choose.

Who’s in???

Another reason to enter and run these races – in conjunction with the Alscot Estate (the location for the final race of the series) we are supporting a local charity, Friends of Stratford Hospital. This fantastic charity aims to provide equipment, services and comforts to the patients and staff of Stratford Hospital. If you are able to help in anyway by either making a donation or in raising sponsorship money on behalf of the charity please click here www.justgiving.com/ charity/friendsofstratfordhospital. There’s more information lower down on this page regarding the charity, if you’re able to have a read.

After this deadline, no refunds are offered, however an entry may be transferred to another runner on provision of full details prior to the race. Entries cannot be transferred on race day without our consent. If someone does run in your place you will no longer be eligible for either the series prize or the series memento. If you have entered an individual race you have up to six weeks prior to that race to withdraw and you will receive a full refund less a £2.00 admin fee. As above after this date no refunds are offered, however you can transfer your entry to another runner but they can’t run in your place for you to claim the series memento. In the event of a race being cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control we will attempt to reschedule to a later date and all entries will transfer to that rescheduled date. If this proves impossible we will offer entrants either a percentage refund or the option to donate that refund to the race charity. The percentage refunded / donated will depend on costs incurred at the time of cancellation. All contact should be made by email.

Baggage, Toilets and Headphones

We will be erecting gazebos for you to drop your bags while you run. It is not manned so if you have valuables, leave them in your cars. We can look after keys for you. There will be toilets available for you to use at each location.

Bone conduction sports headphones are the only headphones that are approved for use in all road races under the UK Athletics Rules of Competition. The Rules are clear that “in ear” headphones cannot be used in events where roads are open to traffic. Using bone conduction technology and open-ear design, Bone conduction headphones are able to deliver stereophonic sound through your cheekbones to your inner ear. Potentially preventing accidents caused by traditional headphones and earbuds that block out sounds, runners can enjoy their music and still hear everything around them – including traffic, emergency vehicles and other warning noises. This event is on open roads so only Bone conductions sports headphones are allowed. We ask you to please respect these safety rules otherwise you may be omitted from the race results.

Event Charities

Friends Of Stratford Hospital

Thank you for taking the time to read more about the Friends of Stratford Hospital Charity. It’s a truly deserving charity and one we want to give greater visibility. We want to ensure it receives the recognition it deserves and is front of mind when people are choosing causes to support. The Friends of Stratford Hospital was formed in 1948, when the original hospital buildings were replaced following the introduction of the NHS. Since then, this local charity has continually provided essential equipment, services and added comforts for patients and staff — funding vital items that fall outside standard NHS provision and significantly enhancing the hospital experience for everyone who walks through its doors. Emma Holman-West, Patron of the Friends of Stratford Hospital and Owner of Alscot Park, which hosts the third race of the Summer Series, is passionate about raising the charity’s profile so that more local people understand the scale and importance of its work. For more than 80 years, the Friends have quietly made a meaningful difference to patients and staff across the community. Emma first became involved with the charity in 2016 during a major fundraising campaign to create the hospital’s new state-of-the-art cancer and ophthalmology wards. The campaign was driven in part by the alarming statistic that 30% of local cancer patients were declining chemotherapy due to the distance required to travel for treatment. Thanks to the Friends’ efforts, those vital services are now available closer to home. In addition to the cancer and ophthalmology units, the building now includes a community wellbeing hub, café, pharmacy, and most recently, a brand-new state-of-the-art diagnostics centre — further strengthening the hospital’s ability to deliver accessible, high-quality care to the local community.
