2019 Event Now Open!!!

This years Cider Relay is on Friday 19th July and entry is officially open. So get doing some serious training (running or drinking!) and get your friends, work colleagues and family members signed up to do this fun event.

Event Information

Do you like Cider? Do you like running? Will you run for 2 miles for Cider?

This pretty much sums up the Tempo Run For Cider Relay.  A fun social drinking/running event where you run and then you drink!

Sound familiar? In fact that’s very similar to it’s sister race, The Run for Beer Relay.  The only difference is the Run For Cider Relay takes place in Worcester and at the end you get to drink Cider.  Whereas the Run For Beer Relay involved drinking Beer and takes place in Stratford-upon-Avon!  It’s all very simple.

The running part involves completing a two-mile run each, in teams of 4 on a route around a beautiful riverside route in starting right by Browns Restaurant near the main bridge across the River Severn.

The drinking bit involves every runner receiving a can of Cider courtesy of Stows Cider on completing their 2-mile leg and a licensed bar will be open all evening so you can continue to “hydrate” after your exertions. There are non-alcoholic options also available for those of you below 18 and teetotalers.

Like the Beer Relay this is a really fun event.  Whilst there are a few running club teams battling it out at the front there’s prizes for best fancy dress, fasted pub team and several others.  There will also be food available to buy on the night.

This will be part of a trilogy of relays which includes the Run For Beer Relay and the Run For Gin Relay.  Why not sign up for a trilogy?

Veteran Team (combined age 160yrs+)
Super Vets Team (combined age 200yrs+)
Junior Team (all runners under 16)


Registration will be open from 5:30pm where you can enter on the day (if the entry limit hasn’t been reached). Or if you have pre-entered (clicking on the Red Button) you can come and collect your Team’s race numbers and relay baton which contains your timing chip.

Team Captains may enter their team by completing the on-line entry form, click the ‘Enter now’ button. You may substitute runners in and out of the team in the time leading up to the race, just make sure we have the correct names on the day of the race.

Directions to Race Start

The race starts and finishes near Brown’s Restaurant where the fountains are at the bottom of Quay Street.

Race start is at 7:15pm

Minimum age limit is 11 years old.

Entry is £50 per team or £12.50 per person (plus a small admin fee).

The nearest car park to the race start is Copenhagen Street Car Park located just behind the Worcester Technical College.

Water station

Water will be available at the start / finish

However, once you have finished your leg of the relay you can head to the bar and claim your free glass of cider!!! (if you’re over 18)

Withdrawal Policy

Up to six weeks prior to the race entrants will receive a full refund less a £2.00 admin fee.
After this deadline, no refunds are offered. All contact should be made by email

Music While Running

No earphones please! From 1 April 2016, a new rule regarding the wearing of head phones in road races was introduced into the 2016-2018 edition of the UKA Rules of Competition: –

“The wearing of headphones, or similar devices, (other than those medically prescribed), is not permitted in races on any single carriageway road that is not wholly closed to traffic.”
